Old Business- Ellie Haman presented that the St Jude’s Benefit ride was a success with 35 riders and 5 more to join for the meal. The largest donation in club history was sent to the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Mark Feaster’s update on the club website asked for pictures and equine information to be sent to his email address at firstname.lastname@example.org
The club camping weekend at Larry McIlwee’s was a fun filled time for everyone with a ride, BBQ, and a special birthday celebration for Connie Nicholson. Thank you from everyone to the McIlwee’s for hosting the event and all their preparation work.
New Business – Ellie Hamman and Susan St Amand have been in conversations with Shenandoah County Park’s and Rec Director Jared Hoover about the possibilities at the county’s park in the southern end of the county – the Wagner property. The potential for some rides and camping at the property are being explored.
Susan St Amand and Ellie Hamman are also in conversations with an organization that is working on rehabilitating the Remount Station/4H Center in Front Royal. The group is interesting in STRHA club mapping the trails that have not been used in many years. The club would not need to clear the trails as they have others lined up to do that work. The organization is interested in developing the area for historical and equine activities. They are going to hire a full time equestrian coordinator for the site. This position will be advertised for hire in November if anyone has an interest. The Board voted unanimously to work with the Remount organization on developing the area for equine activities.
Christmas Party for the club will be at the Wood Grill in Harrisonburg on December 3rd at 6:00pm. It will be dutch treat for the meal. Don’t forget to bring an item for the Theives Christmas gift exchange not to exceed $15.
Susan St Amand thanked the club for the donation to the Equine 4H camp this summer. She reported it was a big success and a lot of fun for the kids. The evaluations from the camp had very positive comments and hopes of having the camp next year. Susan thanked Ellie Hamman and Casey Poor for their volunteer work during the camp.
Mark Feaster sent big thanks to Randy Fadely and Ellie Hamman for their work in preparing the course for the Wounded Warriors benefit ride he organized the weekend of Sept 10th at Graves Mountain Lodge.
Next Board meeting will be at the Woodstock Pizza Hut on January 20th, 2017 at 6:30pm.
With no further discussions, Randy Fadely adjourned the meeting.
